Big Brother Big Sister
Big Brother, Big Sister for Kids with Autism is a program that pairs children on the autism spectrum with supportive mentors. Trust, direction, and support are what strengthen each bond. We focus on developing children’s social skills, emotional growth, and self-esteem through enjoyable and engaging activities.
Each “Little” (child) is paired with a “Big” (mentor) who has been trained for the job. Our Big Brothers and Big Sisters help children practice communication, social interaction, emotional expression, and daily living skills. They not only become friends who encourage and support them but also help recognize their strengths and personal growth while assisting them through challenges.
A “big brother program for autism” gives children opportunities to participate in activities designed for their interests and comfort levels. They learn, explore, and build friendships that may last a long time. The main goals of the organizers are to help people build confidence, feel included, and grow as individuals while they are together in a friendly and supportive setting.
The autism mentorship program within our organization aims to support children in understanding and navigating the world around them. One way parents can help is by encouraging their children to build a Big Brother, Big Sister relationship with a mentor. These mentors allow children to form strong and lasting friendships while experiencing understanding and support.
We, as a collective, offer encouragement and support to children with autism so they can move forward, pursue their dreams, and have fun along the way.
